A “New & Better” Way to Navigate Trouble

Trouble comes. Storms of life come. Because we’re living in a broken world filled with broken people, it’s raining trouble out there. But for believers, we can navigate trouble with tools and biblical promises that aren’t available to those who aren’t “in Christ.”

I’m sailing through a season of trouble right now. So, here’s how I’m navigating it. First, I’m mindful that Romans 8:28 is always in effect for me. God doesn’t “cause all things.” But He does “cause all things to work together for my good” because I love Him and I’m called in accordance with His good plans and purposes for this planet.

Second, there are two other keys that I’m mindful of right now: (1) Trust God and (2) Stay Thankful.

  • (1) “Trust God”: You can rest and be at peace in the knowledge that God is kind and good and loves you desperately. So you can trust Him with all that concerns you.
  • (2) “Stay Thankful”: Gratitude is a cheat code for living your life in God. Focus your attention on what is there, rather than what is missing.

Trouble comes. Rest and be at peace, knowing that God is so smart, so powerful, that He can take everything this fallen, broken world and His ancient enemy can throw at you, and turn it for your good.

The good stuff is inevitable. What’s optional is how miserable you allow yourself to be between now and then.
